Philosophical Mom
Bio:
Life has been a whirlwind of “firsts” lately – travelled to South Africa (three times), got married (once), graduated from college (twice), had a baby (once), and bought a house (well, we’re in the process). Out of everything, the baby has affected me in the most unimaginable way. Before I thought, “I’ll have kids one day – it’ll be cool.” Boy was I in for a shocker! It’s the funniest, most difficult and euphoric experience of my life. People say I’m a natural but there isn’t a book I haven’t read. Love comes naturally … the rest is a work in progress. Follow me as I stumble along and triumphantly work toward my purpose in life with a book in one hand and a dirty diaper or half-eaten-what-did-you-just-give-me?!? in the other.

My Big Top World
Bio:
When I’m not donning one of the many hats that come with the roles of wife, mother, pet owner, and ring leader, I’m writing about it. It's amazing how much material you can gather when you live with and try to keep track of a husband, two kids (son 8, daughter 6), and three cats. Life is crazy, and on most days I prefer it that way ... as long as there’s a glass of wine waiting for me that evening.

Never a Dull Moment
Bio:
My column is about the challenges and joys of raising a typically developing child, a child with slight developmental delays, and a child with Sensory Processing Disorder and a recent Autism diagnosis. Clearly in this house, there really IS never a dull moment!
After spending years toiling in optical retail management, I decided it was time to search for a new career and I just recently found a job in the marketing industry. I'm a proud TV/movie/Disney nerd and when I'm not writing or wrangling my children, you'll find me chatting and tweeting online.

Finding Normal
Bio:
I am originally from a city southeast of Detroit, Michigan, and settled in Charlotte just over five years ago when my husband finished his service with the U.S. Army. Since moving here, we have purchased our first home and had our first child, Olivia. I also went back to school and obtained my Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management; and am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Management. I don’t know what the future holds in store for me or my family, but I am looking forward to prosperity and the opportunity for success in years to come.

Coach Daddy
Bio:
I'm a former newspaper guy-turned-9-to-5'er who found a whole new life outside late-night deadlines and working every time Thanksgiving landed on a Thursday. I'm a father of three girls (ages 13, 10 and 6), coach of 3 soccer teams and a believer that all good things come in 3’s, especially slices of pizza, winning streaks and green lights. My girls and I routinely go on daddy/daughter dates – just a night of dinner and a movie or a ball game. Just time for the two of us, and a chance, when they get older, to talk to me in confidence about anything. It’s very important to me to establish my relationship with each of them, independent of how they see their parents as a double-unit. Plus, I hope to show them how they should expect to be treated when the real dating life begins. (Although there’s no hurry. At all.)

A Dose of Reality
Bio:
I’m a mostly-stay-at-home mom to Emma (8) and Abby (4), wife to my husband Robert, and an occasional nurse. At this point, I stand a better chance of creating world peace than keeping my house clean and organized. My main goal in life is to surround myself with people who are real and tell it like it is, which I also do quite frequently at my personal blog "The Dose of Reality". Enough pretending that we are all cooking nightly four-course meals with heels and pearls while our children play quietly by the fire. More than likely we are tossing french fries to the back seat while we speed dial our spouses about working late. Again.

Bio:
As a Financial Advisor with HF Financial, Court Creeden helped parents understand their changing financial needs as they started and grew their families. After witnessing firsthand how a family can be negatively affected by a lack of planning, he wanted to take his advisor role even further by exclusively working with parents. In establishing Parent Financial, his mission was to create a team whose sole focus is to help families by providing a safe place to have their questions answered and their financial needs met. Parent Financial’s life stages planning helps parents understand how their financial concerns change over time and how a complete plan needs to incorporate insurance, college planning, investments and estate planning. Court works closely with parents to understand their goals and concerns and works as their financial resource for every step along the way. Prior to his work as a financial advisor, Court was a financial analyst for the US Embassies in Western Europe, Africa, and South America. He holds a B.A. from The University of Pennsylvania where he majored in Economics, Philosophy, and Politics. Court and his wife live in Ballantyne.
